The real reason why healthcare is so expensive is that its users -- providers and consumers -- don't know how much it costs.
Insurance doesn't help the problem. In fact, it obscures the real situation. Forcing us all to buy insurance is exactly the wrong direction -- we should strive for an economy where insurance is not necessary.
